भारत, विश्व में बाढ़ से दूसरा सर्वाधिक पीड़ित देश है तथा गंगा, ब्रह्मपुत्र, महानदी एवं गोदावरी नदियों के नित्यवाही नदी बेसिन प्रतिवर्ष बाढ़ का सामना करते हैं। बाढ़ पूर्वानुमान, बाढ़ का वास्तविक समय जैसी निगरानी एवं बाढ़ क्षति अनुक्षेत्रण, बाढ़ क्षति शमन की व्यापक रूप से स्वीकार्य पद्धतियां हैं।

अनमैन्ड एरियल व्हीकल्स (यूएवी), जो ड्रोन के नाम से लोकप्रिय है, और सर्वाधिक होनहार एवं उदीयमान प्रौद्योगिकियों में से एक है, आपदा प्रत्युत्तर व राहत अभियानों में सुधार के लिए प्रयुक्त हो रहे हैं। सुदूर संवेदी प्रौद्योगिकी से युक्त यूएवी (UAV-RS) का जोखिम आकलन व निगरानी में प्रयोग बढ़ रहा है क्योंकि यह लोचकता व निम्न संचालकीय लागत पर शीघ्र तैनाती की सुविधा प्रदान करता है। इसी प्रकार सेंसर्स तथा डाटा के संग्रह व विनिमय के अनुप्रयोग से युक्त इंटरनेट ऑफ थिंग्स एक अन्य महत्वपूर्ण प्रौद्योगिकी है जो आपात प्रबंधन के लिए उत्कृष्ट सहायता प्रदान कर सकती है। आईओटी से समन्वित यूएवी (UAV-IoT) आपदाओं के समय आपदा प्रत्युत्तर प्रभाविता में सुधार ला सकती हैं। यह आलेख कुछ केस स्टडी को रेखांकित करते हुये आपदा प्रबंधन सहायता गतिविधि के लिए यूएवी की उपयोगिता को प्रस्तुत करता है। यूएवी का उपयोग करते हुये आपदा प्रबंधन सहायता के लिए आईओटी प्लेटफॉर्म पर मॉडल की अवधारणा विकसित की गई है और यहां प्रस्तुत की गई है।

स्ंरक्षण व प्राथमिकीकरण जैवविविधता का चरित्रांकन व परिमाणन की बड़ी चुनौतयों में से एक है। अभी तक भारत में स्थानिक पारिस्थितकीय डाटाबेस लगभग अस्तित्व में नहीं था। भूदर्श स्तर पर राष्ट्रीय जैवविविधता चरित्रांकन, जैव प्रौद्योगिकी विभाग (डीबीटी) एवं अंतरिक्ष विभाग (डीओएस) द्वारा संयुक्त रूप से प्रायोजित एक परियोजना, का क्रियान्वयन देश में जैवविविधता समृद्ध क्षेत्रों की पहचान व मानचित्रण के लिए किया गया। इस परियोजना ने तीन स्तरों पर स्थानिक सूचना सृजित किया है; उपग्रह आधारित प्राथमिक सूचना (वनस्पति प्रकार मानचित्र, सड़क और गांव की स्थानिक अवस्थिति अग्नि घटनाओं), भू-स्थानिक जनित या प्रतिरूपित सूचना (विक्षोभ सूचकांक, खंडीकरण एवं जैविक समृद्धि) एवं भू-स्थानिकी डिजाइन की हुयी स्तरीकरण प्रतिदर्श भू-खंड स्तर (-16500) पर। देश में भूदर्श स्तरीय जैवविविधता स्थानिक वितरण का चरित्रांकन के लिए आधार डाटा के रूप में सृजित एक विशिष्ट डाटा कोष है। संपूर्ण डाटाबेस को भू-दृश्यन, विश्लेषण, ऑनलाइन स्थानिक प्रतिरूपण व विविध उपयोगकर्ता समूह में डाटा प्रसारण के लिए ‘जैवविविधता सूचना प्रणाली' नामक वेब आधारित कोष में व्यवस्थित किया गया है।

भारत में बेरोजगारी बढ़ती जा रही है जिसके भविष्य में समाप्त होने की कोई संभावना नहीं है। युवा वर्ग की आबादी की बहुलता को देखते हुए कौशल विकास की वर्तमान प्रणाली की समस्याओं पर पुनः विचार करने की आवश्यकता है।
