Rainfall brings respite to the people of Delhi NCR

New Delhi, July 6 (G’nY News Service): Early morning showers today have brought down the temperature and relief to the people of Delhi. The weekend had been extremely hot and humid with temperatures on Friday reaching around 40 degrees. Yesterday’s temperature was 39.5 Max and 31.5 Min. It has now gone down to 38.4 Max to 25.3 Min.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has revealed that the city received a rainfall of 6 mm.

Rainfall received by the capital and surrounding areas has been lesswhen compared with the actual predictions of the IMD. June’s rainfall predications were 45.9 mm but the actual rainfall turned out to be 43.8mm. This data suggests that there was a rainfall deficit of 5%.

With the way things are going, even the month of July might not receive the same level of rainfall as expected. The expected rainfall was supposed to be 63.7mm but till now the city witnessed only 44.8mm of rainfall.IMD officials expect the deficit to be close to 30%. This clearly shows that the rainfall in the Delhi region is showing signs of slowing down.

According to officials at Skymet, the situation is expected to improve by July 14. By mid-July, the gap between the expected rainfall and actual rainfall will start decreasing.Whether it reaches the normal monthly rainfall mark remains to be seen.
