Product Description

Bt cotton is the first genetically modified (GM) crop in India by the insertion of one or more genes from a common soil bacterium, Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt). India’s central biotech regulator Genetic Engineering Appraisal Committee (GEAC) has recently cleared GM mustard for commercial cultivation and recommended its approval to the Indian ministry of environment. Awaiting approval are rice, wheat, jowar, corn, groundnut, mustard, potato, tomato, cabbage, cauliflower, brinjal, okra, papaya, watermelon and sugarcane.
