There has been a record 35% rise in private coaching in India in 6 years from 2009 to
2015. A lot of factors such as lack of infrastructure, quality of education, and a high
student-faculty gap leave parents no choice but to bare extra expenses for private
coaching. The 70 billion dollar industry not only proved to be a game-changer for
parents having deep pockets, it has also contributed to a decline in school faculty too
as they shift to the greener side. An extensive review of current education policy is
needed to benefit children of all sections of the society.
