Historically, developed countries have contributed the most to cumulative global CO2 emissions and still have the highest total historical emissions and largest per capita emissions. Recently, however, developing countries’ annual emissions have risen to more than half of the total. China surpassed the USA while India is the world’s third biggest emitter of CO2 in annual emissions in 2007. The first school edition of G’nY attempts to capture some of that ‘Indiannes’. The topics covered are complications – just a few of many that remain, which we promise to bring out in the following and in more depth editions.
