A low pressure area developed south coastal Odisha & adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal on 27th,it was over central parts of Odisha and neighbourhood on 28th , it was seen as a well marked low pressure area over southwest Madhya Pradesh & neighburhood on 29th and over Saurashtra&neighbourhood on 30th August 2017. Due to this system flood like situation occurred in Mumbai. Heavy to very heavy rainfall occurred at few places with isolated extremely heavy rainfall over Saurashtra, Konkan.

During the week,rainfall country as a whole was 24% above the long period average (LPA), due to most of the Meteorological Sub-Divisions received normal to excess rainfall. Out of four broad homogeneous regions only East &Northeast India received 21%below the LPA.Details of the rainfall distribution over the four broad homogeneous regions of India are given below:

All India seasonal cumulative Rainfall (1stJune to 30thAugust 2017) For the country as a whole, because of good rainfall during the week, cumulative rainfall has state has improved during the week from 6%  below LPA on 23rd August to3% below LPA as on 30thAugust 2017.
